| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| 20 | zwanzig |
| 30 | dreißig |
| 40 | vierzig |
| 50 | fünfzig |
| 60 | sechzig |
| 70 | siebzig |
| 80 | achtzig |
| 90 | neunzig |
| 100 | hundert |
| 1000 | tausend |
How the numbers work
The tens are the number plus -zig, which means tens: vierzig is 4 tens = 40. The same goes for fünfzig, achtzig and neunzig.
Two of them get shorter, and the bold part disappears: sechs becomes sechzig (60) and sieben becomes siebzig (70).
20 is zwanzig. 30 is dreißig: here ß is a letter of its own that sounds like ss and takes the place of z. 100 is hundert and 1000 is tausend.
