| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| 20 | vingt |
| 30 | trente |
| 40 | quarante |
| 50 | cinquante |
| 60 | soixante |
| 70 | soixante-dix |
| 80 | quatre-vingts |
| 90 | quatre-vingt-dix |
| 100 | cent |
| 1000 | mille |
How the numbers work
30 to 60 have names of their own: trente, quarante, cinquante, soixante.
After 60, French counts with 20s and 10s. 70 is soixante-dix: 60 + 10. 80 is quatre-vingts: 4 × 20. 90 is quatre-vingt-dix: 4 × 20 + 10.
Watch the s: quatre-vingts (80) has one, but quatre-vingt-dix (90) does not. 100 is cent and 1000 is mille.
