Welcome to the AI country Sweden

In a few short years Sweden has become one of Europe's strongest countries in AI, home to companies such as Lovable, Legora and Learn It (we are slightly smaller). If you are one of the many people moving here for it, welcome! Get to know your new country with free quizzes about Sweden, from its nature and history to how the country is run.

Based on UHR’s study material about Sweden (Sverige i fokus). The material may contain value judgments and is not necessarily entirely neutral.

Learn about Sweden from an official source

The quizzes are based on Sverige i fokus, a study material about Swedish society from the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR), written for people who are applying for Swedish citizenship. The material is free from UHR as a PDF, and every chapter is also available as an audio file. It is in Swedish only.

The quizzes follow its chapters. Open one to read all the questions with their answers, or practice straight away in your browser on trylearnit.com. Every quiz exists in English and in Swedish, so you can learn a topic in English and then practice it in Swedish.

A good place to start is the mix with two questions from every chapter: Practice test: mixed questions about Sweden.

1. The country

2. Democracy

3. How Sweden is governed

4. Elections and parties

5. Law and justice

6. The media

7. Human rights

8. Work and personal finances

9. The welfare state

10. Modern history

11. Sweden and the world

12. A secular state with many religions

13. Traditions and holidays

How to learn it

  • Read a chapter, then quiz yourself. Trying to recall the answer is what makes it stick. Take the quiz for the chapter you have just read, then practice only the questions you got wrong.
  • Spread it out. A few minutes a day works better than many hours at once. Go back to chapters you already know every now and then.
  • Switch to Swedish. Once a topic makes sense in English, take the same quiz in Swedish. You learn the words for it along the way.

There is more on studying effectively in How to study vocabulary. The advice works for facts as well as words.

Free for everyone

We think knowing about Sweden should be free. Learn It is free for everyone and has no ads.

About the quizzes

Every question is written in our own words from the facts in Sverige i fokus (corrected version of 10 August 2026), and every answer refers to the page of the material it rests on. Every question has been checked against the material, both the answer and the wrong options. No questions are copied from UHR or from anyone else. UHR has not reviewed the quizzes. UHR may change the material, and when it does, we will update the quizzes.

Some chapters of Sverige i fokus, on more serious topics, are not in Learn It yet. Everything in Learn It should also work for younger students in school.

The quizzes are an aid to make learning more engaging, not a replacement for the material. They may contain mistakes, and Learn It takes no responsibility for them. Always read UHR's own material as well. If you find a mistake, tell us and we will fix it.

Practice with Learn It

Learn It is a free app for iPhone and iPad, with no ads and no account. You practice with Spelling, Multiple choice or Flashcards, and after each round you can practice just the ones you missed. Quizzes are saved in the app and work offline. You can also practice in the browser at trylearnit.com, on any phone or computer.
