How the numbers work
From 30, the tens end in -nta, a bit like English -ty: treinta (30), cuarenta (40), cincuenta (50), sesenta (60), setenta (70), ochenta (80), noventa (90).
The start of each one looks like the numbers 3 to 9: tres and treinta, cuatro and cuarenta, seis and sesenta, ocho and ochenta.
20 has a name of its own: veinte. 100 is cien and 1000 is mil.
